About fixing our eyes on Jesus, Let us read from Nehemiah 4:1–3 (NIV)
“When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly incensed. He ridiculed the Jews, 2 and in the presence of his associates and the army of Samaria, he said, “What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble—burned as they are?” 3 Tobiah the Ammonite, who was at his side, said, “What they are building—even a fox climbing up on it would break down their wall of stones!”
Now, Sanballat and Tobiah represent the mockers of the gospel. It’s a fact that Sanballat and Tobiah will always have something to say about the Church. You will hear them say, “that church won’t stand for a year. ” They will always have something negative to say about you. Not because what you are doing is wrong, but because they are afraid and are enemies of the gospel, good work and progress.
But hey, we are not like them, who are not aware that Sanballat and Tobiah will raise their ridicule and their insults. (John 15:20, Luke 21:17)
Child of God, fix your Eyes on Jesus, He who started a good work is faithful to finish it in glory.
Nehemiah refused to focus on the insults. Instead, he prayed to God (Nehemiah 4:4), trusted God to finish the good work, and yes, they built the wall to completion and in glory.
The enemies (Sanballat and Tobiah) might not stop plotting against you, but God will deliver you out of all their plots if you fix your eyes on Him. Don’t be afraid of them, Remember the Lord (Nehemiah 4:14)
Be strong and prepared through it all. Stand firm and you will win life (Luke 21:17) We see in Nehemiah 4:17 and 18 that the people of Judah who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, Each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked. Meaning they were ready to face the enemy.
And even though they did that, they only trusted God to fight for them. (Nehemiah 4:20)
Child of God, Do your part and God will also do His part. Trust in Him, Fix your Eyes on Him, and He will fight for you.
Hallelujah!
